Abstract
Abstract Compounds represented by the formula OO ANGLE C ¦¦ Rx-C-Q ¦ COOR and salts thereof represented by the formula COOM ¦ HO-Rx-C-OH ¦ COOM wherein Q is bromine, chlorine, -O-alkali metal or OH; R is hydrogen or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 20 carbon atoms; M is alkali metal; and Rx is (CH2)n -CH-CH- , n being an integer from 4 to 10, or RzRz ¦¦ -C-C- ¦¦ RzRz Rz being hydrogen, alkyl phenyl alkyl, alkoxy alkyl, alkoxy phenyl, alkoxy phenyl alkyl or -COOX, X being R or M, are useful as intermediates for the preparation of sequestrants.
