Liquid detergent composition

Claim 1

A liquid dishwashing detergent composition comprising: a. from about 2% to about 40% by weight of a water-soluble organic nonionic surface-active agent selected from the group consisting of: 1. tertiary oxides of the formula R.sub.1 R.sub.2 R.sub.3 Y → O (I) wherein R 1 is a straight or branched, saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic hydrocarbon, hydroxyhydrocarbon, or alkyloxyhydrocarbon radical containing in total from 8 to 24 carbon atoms; and R 2 and R 3 are each a methyl, ethyl, hydroxymethyl, or hydroxyethyl radical; and Y is an N or P atom; 2. amides of the formula R.sub.4 --CO--N(H).sub.m-1 (R.sub.5 OH).sub.3-m (II) wherein R 4 is a saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing from 7 to 21 carbon atoms; R 5 represents a methylene or ethylene group; and m is 1, 2, or 3; 3. a condensation product of from about 3 to about 25 moles of ethylene oxide and one mole of an organic, hydrophobic compound containing from about 8 to about 24 carbon atoms selected from the group consisting of C 10 -C 18 aliphatic alcohols, mono- and poly-C 5 -C 18 alkyl phenols, fatty acid esters of sorbitol, manitol and hexitol, C 10 -C 20 aliphatic and C 5 -C 18 alkyl aromatic carboxylic acids, C 7 -C 17 mono- and dialkanolamides and C 8 -C 18 alkyl- and alkenyl- and C 5 -C 18 alkaryl amines; and mixtures thereof; b. from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of a water-soluble gelatin, having a molecular weight of at least 15,000, an iso-electric point between about pH 4.5 and about pH 9.2; and a gel strength between 50 and 300 Bloom grams; c. from about 5% to about 95% by weight of water.
