Abstract
Abstract Disclosed herein are cyanoperfluoro(vinyl ethers), intermediate acid fluorides; a process for preparing the acid fluorides, and a process for preparing the vinyl ethers from acid fluoride and an alkali-metal carbonate. Also disclosed are copolymers incorporating units derived from the vinyl ethers as crosslinking constituents therein.

A process for making a compound according to claim 1 comprising reacting perfluoro(α-cyanopropionyl) fluoride with one to five moles of hexafluoropropylene oxide per mole of perfluoro(α-cyanopropionyl) fluoride in the presence of a fluoride, MF, wherein M is selected from the group alkali metal, silver, copper(I), mercury(I), and tetra(lower alkyl) ammonium, at a temperature from about -30° to 30° C.
