Abstract
Abstract A new enzyme, cholesteroloxidase, is prepared by recovering same from microorganisms, preferably by washing a cholesterol-converting microorganism with butanol/water, disintegrating the microorganism culture and extracting same with a buffer solution containing a non-ionic surface-active agent, and isolating cholesterol oxidase from the extract.

Total Claims: 22
Claim 1
Independent Claim
41 words
Process for the preparation of cholesteroloxidase, which process comprises culturing a cholesterol-converting microorganism, disintegrating the culture and extracting same with a buffer solution containing a non-ionic surfactant, by means of destruction of the cell walls, and isolating cholesteroloxidase from the extract.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
33 words
Process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the extract is passed through an anion exchanger and the enzyme is eluted with a buffer solution containing the surfactant, to effect the isolation of cholesteroloxidase.
