Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 65 words
A process for preventing, or at least substantially reducing, scaling in apparatus used for diluting an aqueous solution of a partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide which solution contains scale forming substances, comprising the step of introducing carbon dioxide gas into the solution in an amount sufficient to maintain the pH of the solution at a level which acts to keep scale forming substances in solution during dilution.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 65 words
A process for preventing, or at least substantially reducing, scaling in apparatus used for diluting an aqueous solution of a partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide which solution contains scale forming substances, comprising the step of introducing carbon dioxide gas into the solution in an amount sufficient to maintain the pH of the solution at a level which acts to keep scale forming substances in solution during dilution.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 27 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein the carbon dioxide gas is injected into the diluent employed to dilute the aqueous solution of the partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 11 words
A process according to claim 2 wherein the diluent is water.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 23 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein the carbon dioxide gas is injected directly into the aqueous solution of the partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 22 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein sufficient carbon dioxide gas is introduced to at least saturate the partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide solution.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 34 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein sufficient carbon dioxide gas is introduced to maintain the pH of the solution at a level of about 6.5 to about 8.5 during dilution of the solution.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 25 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein the solution is maintained at a pH of about 6 to about 7 during dilution of the solution.
