Abstract

Abstract In a magnetic recording medium comprising a non-magnetic support and a magnetic recording layer coated thereon in which ferromagnetic particles are dispersed in a non-magnetic binder, an improvement consists in that the ferromagnetic particles have a mean particle length of at most 0.3 microns with a length to width ratio of more than 1 but at most 3 and optionally are subjected to an orientation treatment in a magnetic field in the vertical direction to the recording surface.
