Abstract
Abstract A rotor for an alternating current generator in which the rotor shaft carries a pair of pole members and a core member. A spool that is formed of electrical insulating material is carried by the core member and has ribs that fit within slots formed in the core member. The spool supports a field coil, the inner turns of which engage the ribs and portions of the core disposed between the ribs. The rotor shaft supports a cooling fan that is formed of electrical insulating material. The fan is connected to a plurality of posts that extend axially from the spool. The fan supports a pair of lead wires that connect the field coil to the slip rings of a slip ring assembly.
