The copolymer for preparation of optical lenses which is prepared by polymerizing a mixture of monomers which comprises as a main monomer in said mixture from about 25% by weight to about 50% by weight of a siloxane monomer having the formula: ##STR5## wherein, (1) "A" is selected from the group consisting of: ##STR6## where m is a number and is from 2-4; (2) R is hydrogen or methyl; (3) X and Y are selected from the group consisting of C 1 to C 5 alkyl groups, phenyl groups and W groups; (4) W is a group of the structure ##STR7## (5) Z is selected from the group consisting of C 1 to C 5 alkyl groups and phenyl groups; and (6) n is an integer from zero to five the balance being selected from other comonomers, optically and chemically compatible with the main monomer.
