Abstract
Abstract Novel capped polymeric quaternary ammonium compositions formed by reacting ionene type polymers with tertiary amines are useful as microbicides, corrosion inhibitors, debonding agents, flocculants, softeners, plant growth regulators, and demulsifiers.

An ionene polymeric composition having the structure ##STR2## wherein R is methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, hydroxyethyl, or hydroxypropyl; characterized in that R, R', and R" are identical when R is ethyl, propyl, butyl, hydroxyethyl or hydroxypropyl and when R is methyl, R' is methyl or an alkyl group having 5 to 22 carbon atoms and also having 0 to 2 carbon to carbon double bonds, cyclohexyl, benzyl or phenyl; and R" is an alkyl group having 5 to 22 carbon atoms and also having 0 to 2 carbon to carbon double bonds and characterized further in that R, R', and R" may form a pyridyl group and n is an odd number from 1 to 201.
