Abstract

Abstract An ink composition particularly well suited for use in an ink on demand ink jet printer includes a first component, second component having a higher melting point than the first component and and colorant is provided. During printing, the ink is melted and jetted onto a recording medium. The first component is selected to permeate from the melted dot of ink into the recording medium. As its concentration in the dot of ink decreases and the temperature of ink cools, the second component with the colorant will solidify and the first component will fix the second component and colorant to the recording medium.
