Abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of perfluorinated ethers of the formula R--CF 2 --CF 3 , in which R is the radical CF 3 (CF 2 ) 2 --O--[--CF(CF 3 )CF 2 --O] n --, in which n is an integer from 0 to 60, by decarbonylation of perfluoroether-acyl fluorides of the formula R--CF(CF 3 )--COF at 150°-350° C. in the presence of AlCl 3 and/or AlBr 3 .
