Abstract

Abstract Branched alkylhydroxycycloalkyl methacrylate monomers, such as t-butylhydroxycyclohexyl methacrylate, are polymerized with hydrophilic monomers and crosslinking agents to produce compositions for shaped biomedical devices, including soft contact lenses. Such copolymers have high oxygen permeability and good mechanical properties.
