23 words
A filter as in Claim 1 characterized in that the primer is a plastisol primer type No. A-1100-B of B. F. Goodrich Adhesives.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
23 words
A filter as in claim 1 characterized in that the first surface of the first glass substrate has an anti-reflection coating (31) thereon.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
189 words
In a method for manufacturing a contrast enhancement filter, characterized by the steps of providing a circular polarizer (12) having outer surfaces formed of cellulose acetate butyrate, placing a thin film (26, 27) of an optically clear primer on the outer surfaces of the cellulose acetate butyrate of the circular polarizer, drying the thin films of primer, providing first and second glass substrates (16, 17), providing polyvinyl butyral adhesive layers (23, 24), assembling the glass substrates, the circular polarizer and the polyvinyl butyral adhesive layers into a sandwich placing the circular polarizer with the between the glass substrates and butyral adhesive layers between the and the glass substrates, temporarily sandwich into a unitary assembly, evacuating between the layers of the sandwich, subjecting the sandwich to an elevated temperature and pressure to cause remaining air within the sandwich to be absorber: the polyvinyl butyral adhesive layers and to cause the polyvinyl butyral adhesive layers to form a hot melt adhesive to bond the parts of the sandwich into a unitary assembly, cooling the unitary assembly so that the polyvinyl butyrate adhesive becomes a solid and reducing the pressure to atmospheric.
