Abstract

Abstract A method of monitoring and identifying micro-organism by measuring impedance change of a supporting medium on which micro-organism is growth. Impedance change includes decrease and increase in a peculiar pattern characteristic of micro-organism as the latter achieves growth. The supporting medium is constituted by a basal medium including hydrolyzate of protein and added with carbohydrate and salt and if necessary, aminoacid.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 57 words
A method of monitoring micro-organism, comprising steps of preparing a supporting medium starting from a basal medium which contains hydrolyzates of proteins as main components by adding carbohydrates and salts to said basal medium, cultivating micro-organism on said supporting medium, and measuring changes in impedance of said supporting medium, said change including decrease and increase in impedance.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 57 words
A method of monitoring micro-organism, comprising steps of preparing a supporting medium starting from a basal medium which contains hydrolyzates of proteins as main components by adding carbohydrates and salts to said basal medium, cultivating micro-organism on said supporting medium, and measuring changes in impedance of said supporting medium, said change including decrease and increase in impedance.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 18 words
A method of monitoring micro-organism as set forth in claim 1, wherein said supporting medium further includes aminoacids.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 73 words
A method of monitoring micro-organism as set forth in claim 1, wherein parameters which include rate of impedance decrease for a unit time, rate of impedance increase for a unit time, a period during which iimpedance is decreased, a period during which impedance is decreased and rate of impedance decrease immediately before said impedance increase occurs are measured for said supporting medium and compared with corresponding known parameters to thereby identify said micro-organism.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 31 words
A method of monitoring micro-organism as set forth in claim 1 or 2, wherein difference in utilization of different carbohydrates by micro-organism is detected as impedance change for identifying said micro-organism.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 33 words
A method of monitoring micro-organism as set forth in claim 1 or 2, wherein difference in decarboxylation of different aminoacids brought about by micro-organism is detected as impedance change for identifying said micro-organism.
Claim 7
