Abstract A microwave heater suitable for use for thawing a frozen cake uniformly and in a shorter time. The frozen cake (39) is placed on a high-frequency transmissive resin tray (41) having at the bottom thereof an aluminum plate (42), and the cake (39) is covered by a cup-shaped aluminum container (40). The cup-shaped aluminum container (40) and the aluminum plate (42) are respectively provided with a plurality of apertures (43, 45), and the radiation of the microwave to the frozen cake is controlled with respect to the amount and direction of introduction by selecting the sizes and positions of the apertures (43, 45) of the cup-shaped container (40) and the aluminum plate (42).
A microwave heater comprising: a heating chamber (27) for accommodating an object (39) to be heated; a microwave generator (30, 30') for supplying microwave energy into said heating chamber (27); an object supporting tray (41, 42) made of an insulator material with less high-frequency loss and having a protruding portion (44) at the center thereof for supporting said object (39), said object supporting tray (41, 42) including at the bottom thereof a metallic plate (42) having a plurality of apertures (45), said protruding portion (44) and said metallic plate (42) forming therebetween a layer of air; and a cup-shaped metallic container (40) having a plurality of apertures (43) and covering.said object (39) supported on said object supporting tray (41, 42).

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
18 words
A microwave heater according to Claim 1 wherein said microwave generator (30, 30') supplies the microwave energy intermittently.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
60 words
A microwave heater according to Claim 1 whereih the size and location of said plurality of apertures (43) of said cup-shaped metallic container (40), and also the size and location of said plurality of apertures (45) of said metallic plate (42) are selected to control the amount and direction of the radiation of said microwave energy into said object (39).
