Medicinal dressing for systemic applications
Abstract
To improve the skin absorption of dermally administered medicaments, the medicinal plaster is formed from a solid carrier mass containing the medicinal substances and shaped as a disc, which melts at body temperature, the carrier mass disc in turn being fixed to the underside of a porous and elastic plastic disc and the two mutually connected parts are located in a sealed-off, open to the skin surface and fixed on the skin. In the case of the successive melting of the carrier mass induced by the skin temperature, the absorption of the medicinal substances takes place directly from the liquid phase of the carrier mass which is distributed up to the microtopography of the skin. The diffusion conditions are particularly favorable with regard to the factors of exchange area, diffusion path and temperature. The plastic disc causes a position-independent, constant pressure of the carrier mass disc on the skin surface as well as a firm fixation and prevents detachment from the carrier mass in the solid state.
