Metallic honeycomb body, particularly a catalyst carrier, provided with a supporting wall, and its manufacturing process
Abstract
Abstract Translated from German Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft metallische Katalysator-Trägerkörper, welche trotz Unterbringung in einem metallischen Mantel keine mechanischen Wechselbelastungen ausgesetzten fügetechnischen Verbindungsstellen aufweisen. The present invention relates to metallic catalyst carrier bodies which, despite being accommodated in a metallic jacket, have no joining connections exposed to mechanical alternating loads. According to the invention, such a catalyst carrier body consists of many layered layers of structured metal sheets (1, 2), the layers (1, 2) being bent and fastened with both ends to a supporting wall (4), preferably approximately at a right angle. The technical connection to the supporting wall can be made by soldering, welding, in particular laser welding, or as a positive connection. The supporting wall (4) is connected to the jacket (3) of the catalyst carrier body by joining technology, preferably welded, or forms part of the jacket in certain embodiments. Direct connections of the sheet metal layers (1, 2) with each other or with the jacket (3) are not necessary, but can be attached if necessary. Thermal alternating loads on the catalyst carrier body do not lead to a load on the connection points (6a, 6b) between the sheet metal layers (1, 2) and the supporting wall (4), as a result of which the catalyst carrier body has a particularly long service life even under extreme operating conditions.
