Process for treating scrap containing rare earths and cobalt
Abstract
Abstract Process for treating residues containing at least one rare earth and cobalt. <??>The process for treating the residues according to the invention is characterised in that it consists - in dissolving the said residue with the aid of nitric acid, - in separating off the rare earth(s) by liquid-liquid extraction by bringing into contact a nitric aqueous phase containing the elements to be separated off and an organic phase containing an extracting agent for rare earths, consisting of at least one water-insoluble organic compound containing at least one primary, secondary, tertiary or quaternary amine functional group, - then, in recovering the rare earth(s) from the organic phase. <??>The process of the invention is particularly well-suited to the treatment of residues from the manufacture of samarium/cobalt magnets with a view to the recovery of samarium and cobalt.
