Abstract

The invention relates to an arrangement for coating a substrate (1) with dielectrics, which has a direct current source (10) which is connected to an electrode (5) which is electrically connected to a target (3) which is atomized. The atomized particles of the target (3) enter into a compound with a supplied substance, which is deposited on the substrate (1). Toroidal magnetic fields reach through the target (3), the field lines of which emerge in the area of magnetic poles from the surface of the target (3). According to the invention, an alternating voltage source (30) is provided, the output voltage of which is superimposed on the direct voltage of the direct current source (10). The electrical power of the alternating current source (30) which is supplied to the electrode (5) corresponds to 5% to 25% of the power supplied by the direct current source (10) to the electrode (5).
