Abstract

A semiconductor laser arrangement consisting of semiconductor lasers connected in series or in parallel with one another is to be specified, with which any degree of isotropy or anisotropy of the optical amplification factor can be set. The two semiconductor lasers consist of quasi-index-guided laser diodes (LD1, LD2), each of which has a light-amplifying layer (Sch1, Sch2) arranged in a layer plane (E) common to both diodes (LD1, LD2). Through the ratio (I₁ / I₂) of the operating currents (I₁, I₂) of the diodes (LD1, LD2) any desired degree of polarization dependence of the gain can be set. In particular, isotropic amplification can be achieved. Laser für den Weitverkehr Long-range laser
