Abstract

Abstract A printer apparatus comprises: a holding circuit to hold a pattern of a character, a figure, or the like in a form such that it can be enlarged or reduced into an arbitrary size; a converter to convert the pattern of the character, figure, or the like which was held in the holding circuit into a printable dot image of an arbitrary size; and a forming circuit to form a reduced dot image of the character, figure, or the like by the converter in accordance with reduction ratios of a character pitch and a line pitch upon reduction printing in the printer emulation mode. With this apparatus, the reduced print image which accurately conforms with the reduction ratios can be obtained.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 101 words
A printer apparatus comprising: holding means for holding a pattern of a character, a figure, or the like in a form such that it can be enlarged or reduced into an arbitrary size; means for converting the pattern of the character, figure, or the like which was held by said holding means into a printable dot image of an arbitrary size; and means for forming a reduced dot image of the character, figure, or the like by the converting means in accordance with reduction ratios of a character pitch and a line pitch upon reduction printing in a printer emulation mode.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 101 words
A printer apparatus comprising: holding means for holding a pattern of a character, a figure, or the like in a form such that it can be enlarged or reduced into an arbitrary size; means for converting the pattern of the character, figure, or the like which was held by said holding means into a printable dot image of an arbitrary size; and means for forming a reduced dot image of the character, figure, or the like by the converting means in accordance with reduction ratios of a character pitch and a line pitch upon reduction printing in a printer emulation mode.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 40 words
A printer apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the pattern of the character, figure, or the like which is held in the holding means is outline font data which expresses the outline of the pattern by a coordinate dot train.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 33 words
A printer apparatus accoridng to claim 1, wherein in said emulation mode, an image to be output to a continuous sheet is converted into an image to be output to a letter sheet.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 44 words
Printer control apparatus comprising a character store for storing shape data for each of a plurality of printable characters, characterised in that it further comprises processing means for processing the shape data to vary the appearance of the character in accordance with predetermined criteria.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 44 words
Printer control apparatus comprising a character store for storing shape data for each of a plurality of printable characters, characterised in that it further comprises processing means for processing the shape data to vary the appearance of the character in accordance with predetermined criteria.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 50 words
Apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the shape data for each character comprises a matrix of co-ordinates defining positions in the character, and the processing means comprises matrix processing means for applying a matrix operation to the shape data in accordance with a reference matrix defined by the predetermined criteria.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 27 words
Apparatus according to claim 4 or claim 5, in which the processing means is arranged to vary the size of the character in at least one dimension.
Claim 9
Independent Claim 42 words
A method of printing characters via a printer apparatus which includes stored character definitions, characterised in that it includes a step of processing the stored character definitions to vary the size of the character to be printed in at least one dimension.
Claim 10
Independent Claim 42 words
A method of printing characters via a printer apparatus which includes stored character definitions, characterised in that it includes a step of processing the stored character definitions to vary the size of the character to be printed in at least one dimension.
Claim 11
Independent Claim 67 words
A method of printing a character via a printer apparatus incuding a plurality of stored character definitions, each definition comprising a matrix of data representing co-ordinates of vertices of the character, characterised in that it includes the step of performing a matrix processing operation on the character definition matrix in accordance with an appearance varying matrix so as to vary the appearance of the character when printed.
Claim 12
Independent Claim 67 words
A method of printing a character via a printer apparatus incuding a plurality of stored character definitions, each definition comprising a matrix of data representing co-ordinates of vertices of the character, characterised in that it includes the step of performing a matrix processing operation on the character definition matrix in accordance with an appearance varying matrix so as to vary the appearance of the character when printed.
