Abstract

Abstract Compositions containing an ophthalmically acceptable enzyme, a nitrogen-containing polymeric antimicrobial agent, and complexing agent are disclosed for the simultaneous cleaning and disinfecting of contact lens. The complexing agent is citric acid, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, acetic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of these acids. The composition is provided in two-part form wherein a first component comprises the polymeric antimicrobial agent and the complexing agent and the second component comprises the enzyme. The two components are kept separate from each other prior to use. Methods for use of these compositions are also disclosed.
