Abstract

Abstract A method of measuring an analyte using a dry analytical element which comprises, a process of supplying a measuring reagent solution to the anlaytical element comprising at least a hydrophilic polymer layer and a microporous layer having a surface rendered hydrophilic and having a blood cell-separating ability laminated onto a water-impermeable support and not containing the measuring reagents to which a liquid sample has been supplied and thereby reaction occuring, and a process of measuring the analytical element wherein the reaction occurred by an optical means. According the above method, the shelf life of the analytical element is greatly improved. Besides, since the measuring reagnts used in the conventional wet analysis can be used, it is not necessary to develop analytical elements for each measuring item. Moreover, one kind of analytical element can be applied to many items.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 86 words
A method of measuring an analyte using a dry analytical element which comprises, a process of supplying a measuring reagent solution to the anlaytical element comprising at least a hydrophilic polymer layer and a microporous layer having a surface rendered hydrophilic and having a blood cell-separating ability laminated onto a water-impermeable support and not containing the measuring reagents to which a liquid sample has been supplied and thereby reaction occuring, and a process of measuring the analytical element wherein the reaction occurred by an optical means.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 28 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the analytical element comprising at least a water-impermeable gas-permeable layer which is provided between the hydrophilic polymer layer and the microporous layer.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 26 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the analytical element further comprised a light-shielding layer which is provided between the hydrophilic polymer layer and the microporous layer.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 19 words
The method of claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein said microporous layer is formed of fluorine-containing polymer or polysulfone.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 28 words
The method of claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein said analytical element further comprises a porous spreading layer provided between the microporous layer and the hydrophilic polymer layer.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 34 words
The method of claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein said analytical element is dried under a substantially fixed condition between the supply of the liquid sample and the supply of the measuring reagent solution.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 35 words
The method of claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein said microporous layer is removed before the supply of the measuring reagent solution to the analytical element to which the liquid sample has already been supplied.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 35 words
The method of claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein said microporous layer is removed after the supply of the measuring reagent solution to the analytical element to which the liquid sample has already been supplied.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 19 words
The dry analytical element not containing the measuring reagent used in the method of claim 1, 2 or 3.
