Abstract
Abstract There is provision to form three assemblies 572, 573, 574 of fibres arranged in the same manner and to couple, with the aid of an optical coupling device, one of the assemblies 572 to the other two assemblies 573, 574 so that all the fibre 20 of a specified row of an assembly 572 is coupled to two fibres 30, 40 of the same row in the other two assemblies 573, 574. The optical coupling device, according to a preferred embodiment, may comprise two spherical mirrors 90, 92. The invention is particularly applicable to interferometers.
