Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To simplify a detector which detects the transverse deviation of copy paper on a repeatable diazo copier or the like, by enabling a pair of light detection elements to find out the positional deviation of the detected object. CONSTITUTION: A light detection element S4 is opposed to a reflecting surface 2 so that almost the center of distribution of light emission and reception is coincident with a prescribed point on the end face of a detected object 1. When the end face of the detected object 1 is located within a range of ±Δl as in (a), the output of a light reception element S4-2 is applie to a wind comparator comprising comparators A3, A4. Since the applied output is between a first reference voltage V 1 and a second reference voltage V 2 , it is detected that the end face of the detected object 1 is within the range of ±Δl. When the end face of the detected object 1 has deviated leftward beyond -Δl, the output of the light reception element S4-2 becomes higher than the reference voltages V 1 , V 2 so that it is detected that the end face of the detected object 1 has deivated leftward.
