Abstract
Abstract An attachment for driving a diamond roll-truing device wherein the diamond roll is rotatably driven by a flexible shaft within a flexible casing that is coupled to an independent drive motor fixed to the machine. One or more rigid elongated sleeves are fixed about the flexible casing adjacent the diamond roll housing to prevent the flexible casing from sagging and contacting the grinding wheel as the truing roll is traversed across the grinding wheel face.

The combination with a grinding machine including a rotatably driven-grinding wheel having an exceptionally wide grinding face, a wheel guard housing about the grinding wheel, a grinding wheeltruing mechanism including a truing slide adjacent the grinding wheel face, a truing tool support shaft on the truing slide, means for traversing the slide and the support shaft across the grinding face, means for feeding the truing tool support shaft toward the grinding face, wherein the improvement comprises: means including a rotatable truing roll for truing the grinding wheel face mounted on the truing tool support shaft for movement therewith, means including flexible means movable with the truing tool support shaft for rotating the truing roll; means adjacent the truing roll for supporting and preventing the flexible means from contacting the grinding wheel face, said adjacent means including: a coupling fixed to the flexible means; and a fixed rigid long sleeve extending over the flexible means adjacent the coupling, the sleeve being of a length to extend substantially to one edge of the grinding wheel when said truing roll has traversed to the opposite edge.
