Abstract

Abstract An ejector assembly for the cutting die of envelope blank forming machinery in which an hydraulically operated doubleacting piston operates to rotate the die and ejector plate as a unit, the latter being capable of rotational movement of 360*. Stationary conduits are connected to a source of pressurized fluid for the piston so that the latter may be selectively raised or lowered.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 183 words
For use in a press, a hollow die adapted to cut through a stack of sheets, and ejector means provided with an ejector plate, said ejector means being situated at least partly within said hollow die for ejecting from the interior thereof sheet portions which remain in the interior of said die after the latter cuts through the stack of sheets said ejector means constituting a cylinder, a double-acting piston adapted to reciprocate in said cylinder and operatively connected to said plate, said piston having a piston rod of a smaller diameter than the diameter of said cylinder thereby forming a first space between said piston rod and said cylinder, a first conduit connected to said cylinder in a second space adjacent to and above said piston, a second conduit connected to the first space in said piston, and both said first and second conduits communicating with a source of pressurized fluid, means rotating said piston, cylinder die and ejector plate as a unit, the latter being capable of a rotational movement of 360* while said conduits maintain communication with said respective spaces.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 183 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 33 words
The combination of claim 1 further comprising a stop located in the downward path of movement of said piston to limit the downward movement of the piston in the interior of said die.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 28 words
The combination of claim 1 wherein said ejector means is provided with a yieldable lower plate, and a rigid backing plate to which said lower plate is secured.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 50 words
The combination of claim 1 wherein said first and second conduits are fixed and nonmovable in said cylinder, said first space being formed by said smAller diameter section of said piston rod and a larger diameter section of said piston rod separating said first and second spaces in said cylinder.
