Abstract THE PRESENT DISCLOSURE RELATES TO 3,5-DIOXO-7A-DIFFLUOROMETHYL-A-NOR-B-HOMO ANDROSTANES AND 19-NORANDROSTANES AND DERIVATIVES THEREOF WHERIN THE C-17B POSITION IS ELABORATED WITH A HYDROXYL, TETRAHYDROFURAN - 2 - YLOXY, TETRAHYDROPRAN - 2 - YLOXY OR HYDROCARBON CARBOXYLIC ACYLOXY GROUP OF LESS THAN 12 CARBON ATOMS, AND THE C17A POSITION WITH A HYDROGEN, (LOWER)ALKYL, (LOWER)ALKENYL, (LOWER)ALKYNYL OR HALO(LOWER)ALKYNYL GROUP. THESE COMPOUNDS ARE USEFUL AS ANABOLIC AND ANDROGENIC AGENTS. THOSE COMPOUNDS WHICH BEAR A 17A-ETHYNYL OR -HALOETHYNYL GROUPING ARE ADITIONALLY USEFUL AS PROGRESTATIONAL AGENTS. ALSO TAUGHT IS A METHOD FOR THE PREPARATION OF THESE COMPOUNDS.
