Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 165 words
In a hydrant device, a housing, a riser pipe extending from said housing and being in communication with a source of water under pressure, a first valve means in said riser pipe adapted to shut off said water under pressure, a first chamber portion adapted to be placed in communication with said housing, a second chamber portion in said housing, a discharge port means In said housing, and second valve means in said housing movable between first and second positions, said second valve means adapted to connect said first chamber portion with said riser pipe and to shut off communication with said discharge port means when said second valve means is in its said first position and adapted to connect said first chamber portion and said discharge port means through said riser pipe when said second valve means is in its second position, said second chamber portion being in communication with said discharge port when said second valve means is in its said second position.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 165 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 50 words
The device of claim 1 wherein said housing includes a second discharge port means therein, said second discharge port means being in communication with said second chamber portion when said second valve means is in its second position to permit water to drain from said second chamber portion outwardly therethrough.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 90 words
The device of claim 2 wherein a normally closed first check valve means is positioned between said first chamber portion and said second chamber portion adapted to permit flow from said second chamber portion into said first chamber portion when the pressure in said second chamber portion reaches a predetermined level, and a normally closed second check valve means normally preventing flow from said first chamber portion into said riser pipe and adapted to open when said second valve means is moved from its first position to its second position.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 57 words
The device of claim 2 wherein said housing includes a third chamber portion in communication with said riser pipe and positioned between said riser pipe and said second chamber portion, said second valve means adapted to shut off communication between said second and third chamber portions when said second valve means is in its said second position.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 50 words
The device of claim 4 wherein a check valve means is positioned between first chamber portion and said third chamber portion adapted to permit flow from said first chamber portion into said third chamber portion when said second valve means is moved from its first position to its second positon.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 28 words
The device of claim 2 wherein said first valve means provides for communication with said discharge port means when said second valve means is in its second position.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 21 words
The device of claim 6 wherein said first and second valve means are actuated by a movable valve stem extending therebetween.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 100 words
The device of claim 2 wherein said first valve means is positioned below the ground, said housing being positioned above the ground so that said discharge port means will discharge the water from said housing and said riser pipe above the ground when said second valve means is moved to its second position, said water being purged from said housing and said riser pipe by the pressure within said first chamber portion which is accumulated during the time said second valve means connects said first chamber portion with said riser pipe and shuts off communication with said discharge port means.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 25 words
The device of claim 1 wherein said first chamber portion is positioned within said housing above said second chamber portion and said discharge port means.
