Abstract THIS INVENTION RELATES TO LUMINESCENT MATERIALS COMPRISING COMPUNDS OF RARE-EARTH ELEMENTS AND BELONGING TO THE CLASS OF ORTHOPHOSPHATES AND CONTAINING TERBIUM AS AN ACTIVATING ELEMENT. THE INVENTION ALSO INCLUDES A METHOD OF PREPARING THESE MATERIALS, AND FURTHER INCLUDES THEIR APPLICATIONS, MORE PARTICULARLY IN THE MANUFACTURE OF TELEVISION SCREENS, CATHODE RAY DEVICES, RADIATION DETECTORS AND OTHER DEVICES MAKING USE OF THEIR PROPERTIES OF FLUORESCENCE AND CATHODOLUMINESCENCE.
