Abstract
Abstract A method for making tablets and including arranging a plurality of sheets into a set, registering edges of the sheets in the set, moving sets in a defined path, adjusting the spacing between sets, holding the set in a pressed together condition, grinding one edge of the set and applying a hardenable quick drying adhesive to said one edge of the set, said method including maintaining the edges of the set in registry during grinding the one edge and applying adhesive thereto, said method including applying a strip having adhesive to the one edge, folding opposite margins of the strip to engage exterior sheets, and cutting the strip adjacent opposite ends of the one edge.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 3
Claim 1
Independent Claim
99 words
The method of high speed production of tablets as set forth in claim 1 and included in steps of: a. adjusting the spacing between the sets to a minimum as they move along said registering portion of the path, b. applying a strip having adhesive on one face to said one edge of said set of sheets after the application of said quick drying adhesive to said one edge; c. folding opposite margins of said strip to engage exterior sheets of said set; and d. cutting the strip adjacent ends of said one edge of said set of sheets.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
52 words
The method of high speed production of tablets as set forth in claim 1 wherein: a. the adhesive forms a continuous coating that contacts the edges to be joined and is the sole joining of the sheets and the separation of the sheet is at the respective edge joined by the adhesive.
Claim 3
Independent Claim
194 words
The method of separably joining a plurality of sheets of paper together along one edge to form a pad comprising the steps of: a. arranging a plurality of loose sheets of paper in a set wherein the sheets are in face to face relation and certain edges are substantially registered, b. placing said set of loose sheets in a substantially vertical plane with edges to be joined facing downwardly, and in substantially registered relation, c. moving such sets along a defined path, d. pressing the sheets of a set together and maintaining the sheets pressed together adjacent the edges to be joined as the respective set moves along the path, e. heating a hardenable quick drying flowable when hot adhesive, f. applying said heated flowable adhesive to said edges to be joined to cover said edges of all of the sheets of the set whereby the adhesive has securing contact with the respective edge of such sheet of the set, g. permitting the adhesive to set while maintaining the pressed together condition of the sheets thereof and thereafter releasing the pad formed of said joined sheets with the adhesive being the sole joining thereof.
