Abstract THERE IS DESCRIBED A NOVEL CLASS OF LIGHT-SENSITIVE POLYESTERS CONTAINING A 1-ARYLMETHYLIDYNE-3-INDENECARBOXYLATE GROUP OR A 5-ARYLMETHYLIDYNE -3- FURANONECARBOXYLATE GROUP AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE POLYMER BACKBONE. THE POLYMERS ARE INSOLUBILIZED UPON EXPOSURE TO ACTINIC RADIATION AND ARE USEFUL IN THE PREPARATION OF PHOTOMECHANICAL IMAGES.
