Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 182 words
A blow molding apparatus including a mold comprising in combination: a first mold half having a bottom wall forming surface and a severing edge offset from said wall forming surface and extending toward a center line of said mold; a second mold half having a bottom wall forming surface and a severing edge offset from said wall forming surface and extending toward said center line of said mold; said first and second mold halves having leading ends between their respective wall forming surfaces and severing edges so that in closed position said severing edges come into an abutting relationship and with said leading ends define a tab mold cavity; wherein said leading end of said first mold half has a plurality of projections which extend 50 to 90 percent of the distance between said leading ends in fully closed position; and, wherein said leading end of said second mold half has a plurality of projections alternating with said projections of said first mold half which projections extend 50 to 90 percent of the distance between said leading ends in fully closed position.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 182 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 28 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said distance between said leading ends of said first and second mold halves in fully closed position is 20 to 50 mils.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 23 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein a distance between said bottom wall forming surfaces and said severing edges is 20 to 140 mils.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 14 words
Apparatus according claim 1 wherein said projections are in the form of round pins.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 25 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said projections have a wedge shape with a flat bottom, parallel sides and a top sloping to a point.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 34 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the included angle formed by surfaces extending away from said severing edges from the side away from the cavity is within the range of 30* to 47* .
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 28 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein at least said severing edges of said mold halves are made of metal having a Rockwell C hardness of 59 to 61.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 26 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 comprising in addition means to grip a parison at each end and means to effect relative movement between said gripping means.
