Abstract

Abstract An alternating current generator has a rotor with a circular row of permanent magnetic poles which are alternately of opposite polarity, and a stator with U-shaped stator poles whose legs project in radial direction toward the rotor poles. The legs of each stator pole have circumferentially and axially spaced end portions located opposite two adjacent rotor poles of opposite polarity, respectively. An annular stator winding is located within the open annular space formed by the U-shaped stator poles.
