Abstract 11 Beta -Alkyl steroids are advantageously produced from 11keto-9 Beta -estra-1,3,5(10)-triene-3,17 Beta -diol, which compound is obtained, typically, by rearrangement of 9 Alpha , 11 Alpha -epoxyestra-1,3,5(10)-triene-3,17 Beta -diol or an acylated derivative thereof.
