Abstract

Abstract The linear synchronous motor under consideration is used for propelling a magnetically levitated vehicle along a track, the field coils of the motor being carried on the vehicle while the driving coils are disposed along the track. During running of the vehicle, it is possible that a vibration may occur due to attraction and repulsion between the driving and field coils, thereby impairing smooth and stable running of the vehicle. In order to reduce the abovementioned vibration, the dimensions of the driving and field coils and the average distance between the driving and field coils are chosen so that a specific correlation is maintained between them.
