Abstract
Abstract The present invention relates to a novel class of oligomeric builders for use in detergent compositions. More particularly, the present invention relates to a biodegradable, oligomeric polyacrylate having a molecular weight of greater than about 500 and less than about 10,000, preferably less than about 5000. In the most desirable embodiments at least one end of the oligomer chain is terminated with either a sulfur containing moiety or an hydroxy containing moiety. Preferred cations are alkali metals, ammonium and substituted ammonium.
