Abstract

Abstract An automatic cone labeling, separating and restacking apparatus comprising a magazine, loading means for placing a stalk of cones from the magazine into the labeling and separating apparatus, apparatus for placing a label into the larger end of a cone, separating apparatus for separating the labeled cone from the stalk of cones by creating a closed annular space between the labeled cone and the next cone and placing a compressible fluid under pressure within the closed annular space so that the labeled cone is moved to a receiving means, and control means to continue the operation until all cones in the stalk of cones have been labeled, separated, and restacked on the receiving means.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 3
Claim 1
Independent Claim 226 words
Labeling apparatus for cones, wherein a label is to be placed within the larger end of a frustum of a cone while said cone is supported adjacent to said labeling apparatus, said labeling apparatus comprising means for holding a label, said means for holding a label being movable from a label receiving position to a label depositing position, vacuum means for retaining a label on said label holding means, and vacuum neutralizing means for causing a label to be released from said label holding means, a supply of a continuous strip of labels, said continuous strip of labels including a plurality of said labels carried by a backing paper, said labeling apparatus further including feed means for feeding said strip of labels from said supply, said feed means including a shoe for receiving said strip of labels thereover, said shoe being slidable between a first position wherein a label is placed adjacent to said means for holding a label in said label receiving position, and a second position spaced from said first position wherein said label holding means can move to said label depositing position, positioning means carried by said shoe for positioning said labels with respect to said shoe, power means for moving said shoe to said first position, and rewind means for winding said backing paper and moving said shoe to said second position.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 226 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 34 words
Labeling apparatus as claimed in claim 1, and further including a label peeling plate carried by said shoe for peeling a label from said backing paper as said rewind means winds said backing paper.
