Abstract
Abstract An electrophotographic photosensitive member characterized by containing at least one azo pigment represented by the following formula (1), (2), or (3): ##STR1## In these formulae; ##STR2## wherein Z represents ##STR3## in which R 71 is hydrogen, or substituted or unsubstituted alkyl; n is 0 or 1; R 21 , R 22 , R 61 and R 62 represent hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, or hydroxyl R 31 and R 32 represent hydrogen or alkoxy; and R 41 , R 42 , R 43 , R 44 , R 51 , R 52 , R 53 and R 54 represent hydrogen, halogen, or organic monovalent residue. ##STR4## wherein X represents a residue necessary for completing an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or a heterocyclic ring, each ring being substituted or unsubstituted; R 11 represents hydrogen or alkyl; R 12 represents methyl, ethyl or C 3 -C 8 linear alkyl; and R 17 and R 18 represent alkyl, aralkyl or aryl, each substituted or unsubstituted. In formula (2), R 11 , R 12 and X are as defined above; R 13 and R 14 represent hydrogen or cyano; and R 15 and R 16 represent hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro or hydroxyl.

An electrophotographic photosensitive member characterized by a conductive layer or substrate a charge transport layer and a layer comprising a binder and at least one azo pigment represented by the following formula (1), (2) or (3): ##STR390## in these formulae; ##STR391## wherein, Z is ##STR392## in which R 71 is hydrogen, or substituted or unsubstituted alkyl; n is 0 or 1; R 21 , R 22 , R 61 and R 62 are hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, or hydroxyl; R 31 and R 32 are hydrogen or alkoxy; and R 41 , R 42 , R 43 , R 44 , R 51 , R 52 , R 53 and R 54 are hydrogen, halogen, or organic monovalent residue: ##STR393## wherein X represents a residue necessary for completing an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or a hetercyclic ring, each ring being substituted or unsubstituted; R 11 is hydrogen or alkyl; R 12 is methyl, ethyl, or C 3 -C 8 linear alkyl; and R 17 and R 18 are alkyl, aralkyl or aryl, each substituted or unsubstituted: in formula (2); R 11 , R 12 and X are as defined above; R 13 and R 14 are hydrogen or cyano; and R 15 and R 16 are hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, or hydroxyl.
