Abstract

Abstract A bifurcated graft is formed from a series of individual components which are intraluminally delivered apart from one another and then assembled to form a fully supported structure. The modular system includes a base member and one or more grafts connected thereto. The base member preferably includes a portion which gradually increases in diameter. A tubular device for inserting the components of the modular system and a method employing the modular system for repairing an abdominal aortic aneurysm are also disclosed.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 16
Claim 1
Independent Claim 115 words
A modular endovascular graft for repairing an aortic aneurysm, comprising: a body, the body having a superior end defining a single inlet and an inferior end, the superior end sized to fit an aorta of an adult human, and further including a stent attached to the body prior to the body being placed within vasculature; and an extender in the form of a graft, the extender configured to mate with the superior end of the body, the extender having a single inlet and a single outlet, wherein the extender is configured to be delivered into vasculature separately from the body and to be attached to the body after the body is placed in the vasculature.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 115 words
A modular endovascular graft for repairing an aortic aneurysm, comprising: a body, the body having a superior end defining a single inlet and an inferior end, the superior end sized to fit an aorta of an adult human, and further including a stent attached to the body prior to the body being placed within vasculature; and an extender in the form of a graft, the extender configured to mate with the superior end of the body, the extender having a single inlet and a single outlet, wherein the extender is configured to be delivered into vasculature separately from the body and to be attached to the body after the body is placed in the vasculature.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 13 words
The graft of claim 1 , wherein the body is a tubular graft.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 11 words
The graft of claim 1 , wherein the extender is tubular.

Claim 6
Dependent Claim 21 words
The graft of claim 1 , wherein the superior end of the body is configured to be received within the extender.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 32 words
The graft of claim 1 , the body further comprising a bifurcated inferior end defining a first leg and a second leg, wherein the first leg is longer than the second leg.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 11 words
The graft of claim 1 , wherein the stent is self-expanding.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 15 words
The graft of claim 1 , further comprising a support device placed within the extender.
